A news article describes his last moments, and Rangel, MD gets technical.
And please, everyone, we know he was brash and some people found him annoying…but we should all agree that death is deplorable, and there’s no justice in it.

The Crocodile Hunter has died. It is absolutely no surprise that it was an animal that did him in—he was pierced by a stingray—but it’s still sad to see such an enthusiastic advocate for wildlife go.
I’m not alone in feeling this way: it’s
a scienceblogs

to regret this loss. And Skatje had quite the little girl crush on Steve Irwin some years ago.
It’s almost over, so work fast to wish archy a pleasant second half century.
I have just received word that the Friends of Charles Darwin website is getting a facelift and will be relaunched tonight, at 21:30 BST, and everyone is supposed to simultaneously sip from a glass of malt whiskey. That’s in about 4 hours…hey, that’s tea time! We can’t be guzzling alcoholic beverages that early in the day!
Dang, but I seem to be too late. A Seattle newsweekly describes a generous program from Focus on the Family—you could get on to their website store, order up to $100 worth of their enlightening merchandise, and then they only asked for a donation! Pay $0, get it all for free!
Unfortunately, they seem to have caught on. Now you only get a message that the resource center is closed. Keep an eye on it in case it re-opens.

It’s backup, and jeez…it worked. At least, we’ll see if it works if the books arrive in about two weeks. Look at it as a way to get your hands on Wells’ Icons of Evolution or some of Phillip Johnson’s books while paying what they’re worth.
As long as we’re dealing with rebuttals to criticism, Joe Carter has reacted to my previous rejection of his incoherent complaints. Don’t bother reading Carter, though, who is babbling and whining as usual…instead, just read this rebuttal to the rebuttal of my criticisms. Even if it is from a Christian (or especially since it is from a Christian, depending on the flavor of your biases).
Maybe you’ve never heard of the Duggar family, but you may have run across their portrait: it’s a fundamentalist family with 15 going on 16 kids. Prof. Bleen has put together a hypothetical picture of the family, if they were living under the creationist theocracy they like so much. It’s not a pretty picture, and I think Bleen was optimistic.
A while back, I mentioned these hate-filled loons in Kansas who were harassing a hotel owner because he was flying a rainbow flag—Pandagon has an excellent summary of the contretemps—in short, he had the flag in memory of his son, the local paper talked up the association of the rainbow with gays, and boy howdy, all of a sudden he was getting boycotted and abused by the community. In the latest news, some Kansas bigot has cut down the flag.
I had a letter from the hotel owners forwarded to me.
Got a myspace page? Then you want to be friends with Prof. Steve Steve.
OK, as several have noticed, there is actually a Pharyngula myspace. It’s there as a placeholder, little more, and I’m not planning to do anything with it…but if anyone wants to be my friend, I’m easy.
Will it worsen or improve my appearance of geekitude if I mention I also have a Facebook entry?

I want something like this. I think I’ll have to wait for the model that costs significantly less than $80,000 and is a bit more practically designed for Minnesota winters.
