The Midwest hot humid days with lots of construction detours almost make residents wish for winter, so it is wonderful to see that your monarchs and garden spider are back.
Do you see any of those butterflies that migrate long disrances? Or do you have the wrong kind of environment to fit their needs?

The final Monarch generation of the year is the so-called “Methuselah generation,” which can live 6-9 months, and can migrate thousands of miles. If PZ sees some emerge in late summer or fall, these are probably them. The same environment as all Monarchs.
The biggest danger to those fat caterpillars like in the picture are wasps, which will feast on a whole plant full of them.
