    Reginald Selkirk@500,

This reminds me of a prank played by a group of French situationists, I think in 1968 but may have been more recently. They (temporarily) kidnapped a Catholic priest shortly before he was about to begin Mass, and one of their number dressed himself in the clerical robes. He made his way to the pulpit (or whatever they have in Catholic churches), adopted an appropriately solemn mien, and began his address to the congregation:

    Frères, dieu est mort!

    Lynna, OM@493,

I think Trump may have been sticking to the ludicrous claim that the latest fighting is a new war, made so he can pretend he hasn’t reached the time limit by which the president has to get congressional approval. Hence 14 dead in the”first” war, 18 so far in the “two” wars.

Independent: Trump says ‘I trust’ Putin and Xi — contradicting Hegseth about Iran war allies

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said this week that Russia and China are both ‘enabling’ Tehran’s war effort against the US

President Donald Trump on Friday said he does not believe the Russian or Chinese governments are providing military or intelligence assistance to Iran — based solely on the denials of their leaders — contradicting the assessment of his own defense secretary during a Senate hearing just days ago.

With any other president you would assume this is a diplomatic lie. With Trump it’s easier to think he doesn’t understand what is going on. Neither Russia or China is likely selling Iran weapons right now, instead they are giving and selling Iran information, supplies and the parts/raw materials they need to make weapons.
