@Larry – Agree, at first glance science is missing. I’m sure there could be a few more

Nice that the artist included his tilted posture.

  3. imback says

The cartoon could also mention wasting billions on all their major grifts as well as on the war machine while exploding the debt, as well as the aforementioned destruction of general welfare spending. But look, a trans person!

i recognize this artist. pretty confident it’s google gemini. letting y’all know in case u want to nuke all fruits of the poison devil tree.

  5. Jean says

One major thing is missing from that picture: Trump should have a lit match (or torch) in his hand.

    Bébé @6 :

letting y’all know in case u want to nuke all fruits of the poison devil tree.

Not sure what you mean. Are we supposed to disapprove of the artist?

AI is a tool. Can be used constructively or destructively. This one looks constructive. I’m probably “out of the loop” because any supposedly in-depth discussion of it makes my eyes glaze over.

And to add injury to insult:

Happy Pride Month! These states are just … ignoring it completely by Emily Singer 20260601

In regard to AI ‘art’: I don’t express a blanket condemnation of AI. It is, as this example, often exaggerated colors and rather cartoon like, which is appropriate in this context where the message is important. My concern is that AI uses hugely greater resources than a human artist using true creativity rather than AI’s ‘mimic, cut and paste at human direction’. Massive AI data centers, orders of magnitude greater than standard data center needs, use electricity and water (the water cannot be reused) that deprive the populace of those critical resources in many places where they are scarce to begin with. AI often causes heat and air pollution, sometimes illegally and to the detriment of people’s health. I must admit that AI and AI data centers are a clear symbol to me of billionaires’ arrogance and complete disregard for the well being of the populace.

Rob, multiple people here have assured me AI output is perforce AI slop.
I am under injunction by PZ to not post any AI output on that very basis.

    (No in-depth discussion required)

June 1 (Reuters) – A U.S. appeals court on Monday said President Donald Trump’s administration could for now bar transgender people from enlisting in the military, but blocked the expulsion of current service members while ‌a lawsuit plays out.

A panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit in a 2-1 ruling said the 2025 policy was unlawfully motivated “by the bare desire to harm a politically unpopular group.”

phillipbrown, that reads like human-massaged LLM output to me. Just saying.

  12. indianajones says

I think the cartoonist missed a trick by not having Trumps right hand there removing a wallet from the MAGAT’s back pocket.

  13. Silentbob says

    @ 13 Morales

PZ literally just posted “ai output” dude. The problem was you were spamming the blog with endless “ai” generated commentary.

(Also notice you “misnymmed” a commenter there by abbreviating their handle – something you pretend is an insult when others do it.)

  14. John Morales says

[of course, I am not being metaphorical or allusive or elliptical or anything like that.
PZ literally issued a stricture with that particular specificity
    I remember.

There are other strictures, one of which applies to two commenters.
I also abide by those and that one in particular]

I don’t hate christ for the same reason I don’t hate Lord Vader or the Archimandrite Luseferous. But I do hate christians and I bet I hate them more than he does.

  16. says

And you know what’s the worst? I bet most people know that they’re offered distractions and who the real culprits are but are just too chicken to admit so and go with the lies they’re told. That’s easier than having to admit that you are in trouble and that you have to actually risk your neck to improve things.
I still remember Americans lambasting Germans and Japanese for not ousting their tyrannical governments, calling them timid and browbeaten.

Well, so far Americans are not leading by example.

Regarding the remarks about hating, I try to hate the murder, destruction, bigotry and ignorance of most xtians while trying to not hate the xtians themselves, since they are people, no matter how superstitious and dangerous. It’s not an easy task.

  18. Alverant says

Maybe I was primed by PZ’s other post but this has me thinking of Far Side would do if it was political.
We could replace “trans person” with “brown person” or “smart person” or “non-Christian” and it would work just as well.

  19. Rob Grigjanis says

Bébé @22: I missed that post. Einstein came up with E=mc². Does that mean you want to stick that pig too (see Hiroshima, etc)?

  20. says

rob – good question. let’s hit up the time machine and find out. on the plus side with jeezis tho, i don’t have to use time travel because he’s comin’ on home any day now, right?
