Former New York lawyer
Rudy “Nosferatu” Giuliani
(L) and/or (R).
Happy dance, everybody! No, he’s not dead (he’s undead, and possibly immortal like Dick Cheney, who has no pulse). However, the odious former mayor of New York City got a little taste of justice today.
Rudy Giuliani may have to start looking for a new career.
A Manhattan appeals court stripped Giuliani of his license to practice law in New York on Thursday, ruling that he has violated his professional oath by peddling “demonstrably false and misleading” claims about the 2020 election on behalf of his most high-profile client, former President Donald Trump.
The order, issued by a five-judge panel on the State Supreme Court’s appellate division, found there’s “uncontroverted evidence” that Giuliani lied when he told courts, lawmakers and the public that President Biden’s election was facilitated by widespread Democratic voter fraud.
The judges also drew a damning parallel to Jan. 6, saying Giuliani’s election lies “directly inflamed the tensions” that paved the way for the deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol.
“The seriousness of respondent’s uncontroverted misconduct cannot be overstated. This country is being torn apart by continued attacks on the legitimacy of the 2020 election and of our current president, Joseph R. Biden,” the judges wrote.
The beleaguered former mayor-turned-Trump attorney — whose Manhattan law office was raided by the FBI in April as part of a criminal investigation — can fight his suspension by requesting a hearing within 20 days.
However, the court noted that Giuliani’s offenses are “incredibly serious” and that he will likely face “substantial permanent sanctions.
SUBSTANTIAL PERMANENT SANCTIONS… BWAHAHAHAHA!
That’s a looooong time if you’re immortal!
But the ex-mayor’s son, Andrew Giuliani, came to his defense and claimed the suspension was handed down by “leftist judges.”
Oh STFU, Andrew. You motherfuckers wouldn’t know a leftist if one shot you in the middle of Fifth Avenue.
Is he a New York lawyer? Can’t we get him disbarred too?
“This is just unbelievable how politicized this has become. I am infuriated by all of this,” the younger Giuliani, who’s running as a Republican in next year’s gubernatorial race, said in a video posted on Twitter. “I stand by my father. He did everything, ultimately, by the book.”
Wonder what book that would be. Probably Alice Through the Looking Glass.
The elder Giuliani, who has held a New York law license since 1969, was the most visible and vocal mouthpiece for Trump’s failed campaign to overturn Biden’s election victory.
For weeks after the election was called, the ex-mayor appeared in courts and statehouses across the country pushing the thoroughly debunked claim that the election was rigged against Trump.
Then why haven’t all those states disbarred him from practicing law there, too? Ooh! Ooh! I think I know this one! Is it… because of all those right-wing fascist judges who wipe their asses with the Constitution?
WHAT DO I WIN.
Despite a total lack of evidence, Giuliani and Trump maintain to this day that the election was stolen.
“Evuh-dense? What is this evuh-dense you communists are always talking about? I’ve never heard of it.”
–former New York lawyer Rudy “Nosferatu” Giuliani.
…
One of the most glaring violations, the judges wrote, was Giuliani’s baseless contention before a Pennsylvania federal court that thousands of “dead” people in Philadelphia cast illegal votes for Biden.
To be fair here, Nosferatu could be right about the thousands of dead people voting, perhaps in the underworld beneath the city of Philadelphia, or a parallel dimension roughly overlapping the area of southeastern Pennsylvania. I mean, he would know, right? The problem for his claim is that when a state runs a free and fair election, illegal votes cast by dead people are disqualified.
So while it may be technically true that thousands of Philly zombies (or whatever) cast ballots, they would not count toward the totals.
Also, I find it highly unlikely that Philly zombies would have gone for Biden. It’s pretty well established that these Nosferatu/Darth Cheney undead types vote conservative. THAT’S what makes them scary.

“Nosferatu Jr” was a pro golfer, then was a “special advisor” in Wacko House to hair furor, responsible for arranging the visits of… sports teams. He’s now trolling for Putin as an alleged-“correspondent” at an alleged-“news” channel. None of which should stop him from being disbarred, just to make a point. And also teh “Nosferatu Sr” lawyers, who sneeringly claimed (Rudy Giuliani barred from practicing law in New York over election lies):
After disbarring, feed the entire lot to the squirrels, thereby eliminating both sets of pests. (Is it cruel to forcefeed undead slime to a squirrel? (Apologies to other slime.))

I have to agree with Andrew Giuliani. The whole election thing has become politicized — by the Republican Party, by effectively making belief that the election was stolen from Trump a condition of being in the party.

Since Giulani only held a license to practice law in New York, am not entirely sure that other states’ lawyer-type orgs could disbar him.

Funny how they never mention that the dead people that have been found to vote on 3 Nov 2020 were republicans.

I hate to ruin your celebration, however it’s fairly routine for someone currently licensed to practice law in one state (and not under sanctions/discipline) to get permission to act as a lawyer in another state for the duration of a specific case. Sometimes they are required to get a lawyer licensed in state to act as co counsel, but as I understand things, they had that in each of those election cases. It’s also noteworthy that it’s particularly easy to get permission to practice law in a state for the purpose of a particular case when the case is being heard in federal court, since federal law is the same throughout the country, even when the particular federal courthouse is in a state far away from where you’re licensed.
It’s also fairly routine to be licensed in more than one state, at least for lawyers like Nosferatu, but absent any specific knowledge that he’s licensed in a particular state, I just assume he relied on his NY license + permission from the court. Once the NY license is stripped, he can’t get permission to operate locally since he’s no longer a licensed lawyer in another state… so the truth is that those other states don’t need to strip him of his license: he ain’t got one there.

Wouldn’t this imply he has a reflection?

In my humble opinion, there is no treatment too cruel for squirrels, if one has the stomach for it. My concern here would be that by ingesting the undead slime, the squirrels themselves would join the ranks of the undead…a horror far too terrible to even contemplate let alone risk.
@Allison: well, at least they’ve finally cut out all the more nebulous and meaningless* litmus tests as to whether one has lost most tethers to reality and/or empathy, and is therefore welcome in the Republican party. Now it’s simple: “Election stolen from Trump, yes or no?”
*meaningless because conservatives actually have no bedrock principles, only convenience and expedience. And of course this is just as true for conservative Dems.
@Who Cares: I hereby deem the US media criminally negligent for not repeating this fact in every news story or segment that mentions Republican fantasies of dead Biden voters.
@cubist and @CripDyke: Yeah, I know he was probably only admitted to practice in other jurisdictions pro hac vice. I attempted – and clearly failed – to draw a mildly comic parallel between those dastardly lib’rul judges in New York who are just itchin’ to disbar him for No! Good! Reason!, and the right-wing/red state tribunals who’d eagerly roll out the red carpet for Nosferatu to (dis)grace their courts. As opposed to, you know, Giuliani simply being held accountable for his own eminently sanction-worthy behavior. (Perish the thought.)
FWIW, the Federal Court pro hac applications I’ve worked on for New York lawyers have all required the practitioner to be admitted and “in good standing” with their own state bar. Some jurisdictions actually require proof of this, in the form of a “certificate of good standing” from the clerk of the state court where the attorney is admitted; they won’t just take the lawyer’s word for it in a signed application or sworn affidavit. (Gosh, I wonder why?) Either way, if a New York disbarment sticks, Nosferatu is SOL. Then we will all just wait until he inevitably practices law without a license, probably televised or livestreamed, and gets himself in even more trouble – the kind of trouble that means his license will never be reinstated. Except maybe the underworld? Not sure how all the supernatural court stuff works.

Andrew “Nosferatu Jr” Giuliani is told to feck off — by his fellow thugs, Giuliani son gets no votes from Republican leaders in bid for New York governor (my added emboldening):
