Knife Shoppe

Hi ya’all. I haven’t been very active here lately because I had some work to do. Including that after months and months of heavy procrastination, I have finally purchased web hosting and a domain and started a small webpage for my knives.

www.kb-noze.cz

Constructive criticism is welcome.

The webshop interface does not allow me to display prices in other currencies than Czech Crowns (yet), but I do hope that anyone can convert it to USD or € or whatever should they need to. I will gladly sell anywhere in the world as long as it is financially feasible for both me and the customer, but selling outside of the Czech Republic must be done through individual arrangements and cannot be done simply via the webshop interface (not yet). The reasons are simple – additional currencies and shipping outside CZ are both available for an extra charge and I am not ready to dish out more money than is strictly necessary. Not yet, anyway.

I am thinking about adding a knife-making blog there, but I am somewhat discouraged by the amount of work that it would entail.

I will leave this post pinned to the top of the page for some time.

You have a lot of content here that could be the basis of a knife-making blog. Why recreate when you could edit and amend?

I like the site, it has a good clean design and is easy to navigate Well done!

    It is very nice indeed.

Some little bugs: In the front page, “Function” should be spelled without a “k” and (I think) Commission with two “s”, also the word commission feels a bit odd in this context. Do you mean “customization”?

Also, the link ” More about me and my knives” in the upper bar points to working page in both Czech and English language pages, but the link button with the same title below the four points defining your brand in the front page (“Function”, “Handmade”, “Minding the Environment”, “Commission”) points to a non-working page (https://www.kb-noze.cz/sluzby/)

Otherwise, everything seems to be nice and quite professional, suitable for a craftsperson, but the spelling errors and not-working links in the front page are bad for the first impression, but luckily they are easily fixed.

Regarding “customisation” and “commission”, they are different things. I had assumed that that meant I could commission Charly to make a particular kind of knife tht was not in his normal repertoire, customisation would be more along the lines of putting someones initials or badger logo on the sheath, so which is correct depends on which Charly intends to offer.

I was hoping I could provoke a native speaker to tell which word would best fit in this context. Thank you for being provoked! 8-)

@Ice Swimmer, thanks for the feedback. Spelling errors are especially hard for me to spot, even in my native language.

@Ice Swimmer, Jazzlet, a commission is the correct word in the context intended, as in I am prepared to make a product specifically according to one’s wishes
