Religious people have been warning us for some time that accepting same-sex marriage will bring down the wrath of god upon us. And we know from biblical history that when god gets good and mad and in a smiting mood, he tends to lash out with little discrimination, hitting the godly and the godless alike.
So what can the opponents of same-sex marriage do to make god aware that they are the good guys and should be spared by the almighty? Blount County in Tennessee has decided that what is necessary is to pass a resolution informing god that they had no part of allowing same-sex marriage and that it was an act of judicial tyranny by the US Supreme Court. That makes sense since you cannot expect god to keep track of how the US system works. He needs the Cliffs Notes on it.

With a firm reliance upon the providence of Almighty God WE the BLOUNT COUNTY LEGISLATURE call upon all of the Officers of the State of Tennessee, the Governor, the Attorney General, and the members of the Tennessee Legislature, to join US, and utilize all authority within their power to protect Natural Marriage, from lawless court opinions, AND THE financial schemes of the enemies of righteousness wherever the source AND defend the Moral Standards of Tennessee.
WE adopt this Resolution before God that He pass us by in His Coming Wrath and not destroy our County as He did Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighboring cities. As the Passover Lamb was a means of salvation to the ancient Children of Israel, so we stand upon the safety of the Lamb of God to save us.
WE adopt this Resolution begging His favor in light of the fact that we have been forced to comply and recognize that the State of Tennessee, like so many other God-fearing States, MAY have fallen prey to a lawless judiciary in legalizing what God and the Bible expressly forbids.
However, I am puzzled that such an important item is way down on the meeting agenda for Tuesday, October 6, under New Business and after dealing with zoning and other minor issues. This strikes me as rather foolish, given the importance of the smiting issue. I mean really, surely it should at least come before item #3 that seeks “to approve interlocal cooperation agreement for highway maintenance with the City of Townsend”, since the city of Townsend, no doubt filled with godless sodomites, is going to be totally wiped out anyway, making that resolution moot?

Whilst on with asking these klowns what things be; I wonder if they’ve ever read or heard of that obscure little amendment* right at the start of the US Constitution and its implications on Church-State separation -- which incidentally breaks that “Thou must worship me and only me!” Commandment?

I’m from Tennessee and frequently listen to my parents (one of them’s a teacher) kvetching over the next new horror summoned up by the state’s legislature or similar. So for me it’s “always”.
But yes, Sherman probably should’ve marched from sea to shining sea so that we wouldn’t have to deal with this sort of thing…
