Some of the best segments on The Daily Show are when host Jon Stewart talks to ‘Senior Black Correspondent’ Larry Wilmore about current issues involving race. Those chats are both funny and provide pretty good insight into how America deals with race.
It has been announced that Wilmore has been picked to host a program called The Minority Report starting in January 2015 to replace The Colbert Report when Stephen Colbert moves to broadcast TV at the end of this year. Like the show it will replace, the new show will be produced by Stewart, whose own show has become a breeding ground for new comedy stars.
Here is Wilmore reading from his book as to why a good case could be made that Jesus was black.
Well, Yeshua ben Yusef of Nazareth, at the very least, assuming he even existed, was probably at the least,swarthy in complexion, as are most Jews today who originated in Arab countries. The depictions of him as Nordic are almost certainly horse manure.
Pfft, next you’ll be expecting me to believe that Moses didn’t look like Charlton Heston.
Obviously Jesus was pink, but also invisible.
Ooh, well I look forward to this new show. Which is not something I say very often.
I always have a chuckle when the local JWs drop the occasional leaflet in my mailbox. They not only always portray him as extremely white, but also with short hair, styled with gel.
@5: The last JW leaflet I saw depicted Jesus as barrel-chested, with very muscular arms and legs, but with white shoulder-length hair. Great cut, bangs and everything — heaven must have all the best stylists. But white hair — I guess he looks pretty good for a man approaching his 2000th birthday, but nobody escapes white hair when they get old. Not even a god-human.
It just shows how simple-minded their target audience has to be. The sad thing is that there are so many simple-minded people that fall for it.
This is great news. Larry Willmore has, IMO, been consistently, the best ‘news’ commentator on The Daily Show. I will have to follow that when it starts.
I should be following TDS more regularly, but I usually just watch all four episode at the end of the week online…. 🙂

Everyone knows Jesus was a hippie. The long hair, beard, robe and sandals, talking about loving and forgiving everyone, throwing the money changers out. Heck, even his crown of thorns was organic!
