The Vicar of Dibley was a popular British TV show which had a running gag in which each episode would end with vicar telling her somewhat dim and humor-impaired assistant a joke which the latter would totally fail to get.
Here are five of those endings.

I liked the Vicar of Dibley. The dim-witted assistant was not always as dim-witted as she appeared, and could on occasions be quite devious. The Christmas Special with the multiple dinners comes to mind.

The assistant reminds me of Karl Pilkington from the Ricky Gervais show.

The Vicar of Dibley was a hilarious show. Thanks for these jokes!

They didn’t have my favorite one, the story about the blinds man.

I only watched a couple of episodes. For some reason the Vicar always got under my skin. The last straw was the cringe inducing episode where she gets married.

These remind me of the bit from The Kids In the Hall, where Dave Foley is a vaudeville straight man. The comic is trying to do the “Who’s On First” routine, and Dave is totally messing it up by giving plausible explanations for everything. “No, you see, the first baseman’s name is Hu — he’s a Chinese gentleman…”

And of course, it’s on the web:
