They never learn

Republicans have received so much bad press about racists and Nazis in their ranks that you’d think they’d learn and try to avoid more controversial members, but they can’t. Look at who was appointed as director of the College Republicans.

The newly appointed College Republicans of America political director Kai Schwemmer has made racist, antisemitic, homophobic and sexist statements while espousing extremist rightwing views on abortion, a Guardian review of livestream recordings can reveal.

Schwemmer said he would accept a world in which slavery was legal if abortion was criminalised, describes himself as “very much an anti universal suffrage guy” and accepts a supporter’s description of him as “our Mormon Nick Fuentes” – referring to the white nationalist influencer whose platform he streamed on for years.

Somehow, I am not surprised — we have a chapter of the College Republicans on our campus, and they occasionally get in the news for being assholes. You’d think, though, that they’d at least try to present themselves as sober, serious conservatives. That’s not what a modern Republican is anymore though. The Republican Party is a hate group. This appointment was not a mistake, it’s who they are.

One thing I wonder, though, is who appointed this jerk? The stories don’t say. All the attention is focussed on this stupid hateful young man, but I imagine there’s some wealthy, cigar-smoking bigwig somewhere in the works that thought appointing a misogynistic racist to run a student organization was a fine idea.

    In short, a Mormon.

They never learn? Looks like they learned quite well: Trumps open fascism has brought the power and the chance for them and their oligarch sponsors to enrich themselves like never before!

I really hope there will be a backlash and serious consequences for these assholes, but right now they’re flying!

The Florida Federation of College Republicans has just “deactivated” its University of Florida College Republicans chapter due to “a recent antisemitic gesture”, with UF promptly rescinding its recognition of same as a student group.

As usual for Florida, this entails much confusion (for one thing, the UFCR apparently was never part of FFCR). A Republican attorney has filed suit on Freeze Peach grounds for the right to perform Nazi salutes, claiming a campus administration appointed by GOP governors since the ’90s acted “because they’re [UFCR] conservative Republicans, and they don’t like them.” (FTR, about 1/5 of UF undergrads are Jewish.)

Oddly enough, none of the coverage I’ve seen includes any wails about “cancel culture.”

The only reason he’d accept a world in which slavery was legal is that he’s extremely confident he wouldn’t be one of the enslaved. As hard as I try, I can’t will myself to imagine and wish for a world in which he and all his hideous ilk were slaves, because I’m not a monster.

This guy probably wants slavery to be legal, so the Mormons can make their women into slaves. Again.

Not that their status in the Mormon church is all that different from slaves.

Mormonism is an extremely misogynistic patriarchial religion and women are a permanent underclass. All Mormon males are Mormon priests, a status closed to all women.

What is keeping Mormon males from actually making women into breeder slaves is the inconvenient fact that Utah is still part of the USA and the USA has laws against slavery.

Fixed that for you. It’s not a mistake; the kid’s an intentional sacrifice.

College Republicans of America stands by new political director amid scrutiny of past controversial comments

CRA’s leadership did not back down when faced with mounting criticism. CRA President Martin Bertao said he would not apologize for choosing Schwemmer.

“Over the last day I have done a lot of reflecting on my decision to appoint Kai as CRA’s political director. And in that reflection I have came [sic] to the decision that I would like to apologize… to absolutely NOBODY, CRA will never back down to the WOKE mob!” he wrote March 6.

Extensive experience tells us, you can easily remove the second ‘m’ in the name and the true character of that cult emerges.
