That isn’t ominous at all

The federal government (innocently, I’m sure) checking on college faculty to identify which ones are Jewish.

Most professors at Barnard College received text messages on Monday notifying them that a federal agency was reviewing the college’s employment practices, according to copies of the messages reviewed by The Intercept.

The messages, sent to most Barnard professors’ personal cellphones, asked them to complete a voluntary survey about their employment.

“Please select all that apply,” said the second question in the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, or EEOC, survey.

“The federal government reaching out to our personal cellphones to identify who is Jewish is incredibly sinister.”
The choices followed: “I am Jewish”; “I am Israeli”; “I have shared Jewish/Israeli ancestry”; “I practice Judaism”; and “Other.”

I’m “other,” so I guess I’m safe. Nothing to worry about here, folks, move along, move along…unless you’re Jewish, and then we would like to see your papers, please.

It always begins with mild impositions for your own good, doesn’t it?

Maybe the plan is to count all the “Other” responses as antisemitic, then use that as proof that Barnard needs to be sent a list of demands about DEI…or something.

Look, this is obviously being done to create an environment where Jewish people can feel safe. Once the government knows who to protect, it can issues badges that Jews can sew onto their clothing so that agents of the state can readily identify who needs the most protection in awkward or disruptive social situations.

Richard Nixon and his purge of people with Jewish names from his administration is still part of living memory.
But having an Arabic-sounding name is probably worse.

Amazing how they are simultaneously pro-Nazi and brave defenders of the Jews. And their minions go right along with it.

Some Columbia faculty/staff may also have gotten the text messages. Apparently one issue is that Columbia but not Barnard warned some (all?) of their faculty/staff that they might be contacted by the EEOC since their contact info had been turned over to the EEOC https://www.columbiaspectator.com/news/2025/04/23/eeoc-sends-texts-to-columbia-and-barnard-employees-asking-them-to-complete-survey-for-title-vii-investigation/
I will note that Jewish faculty/staff are almost certainly aware of one of the demands of a certain government in 1933 was the firing of Jewish faculty from all universities.

“Israeli” here being code for zionist, I suppose. This is actually a great example of zionist fascism having nothing to do with being Jewish, and that being against these criminals has nothing to do with antisemitism. The Christian radicals who run state and federal governments in the US are of course anti-Jewish, but genocidal zionists are welcome and any critique of them is surely an act of terrorism.

That isn’t the only ominous list they are making.
RFK Jr. is starting a registry of people with autism.

NIH autism study will pull from private medical records

    By Alana Wise

The National Institutes of Health will begin collecting Americans’ private health records as part of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s controversial plan to discover a cause and a cure for autism.

This is likely a violation of HIPAA, the medical privacy act.

  8. raven says

They don’t need this list to find out the causes of autism and then a cure.
We already have a good understanding of autism and it is complicated with a high genetic component of around 80%.

The ominous part is that the first victims of the Nazis were the disabled. They identified disabled people and then killed them.
The numbers were high, around 250,000 people.

    Disabled people

She was one of approximately 250,000 people murdered by the Nazis because they were physically or mentally disabled. … The success of Hitler and the Nazi party …

People with autism and the autistic and disabled communities are understandably appalled and terrorized.

We’ve seen this movie before and it didn’t end well.

“Israeli” here being code for zionist, I suppose.

Or it’s code for “has sympathies with a foreign nation, justifying deportation without trial”.
    Probably both, really.

We really are living in the wrong timeline. The lessons of history are being eagerly forgotten. This is not going to end well.

@8 and 9. Fuck RFK jr. Fuck him and his “autism is destroying families”. Fuck the entire woo alternative/complementary industry for pathologizing autism. Being neurodivergent is not a death sentence, you can still live rich and productive lives. Want to know what destroys families. People dying from preventable deaths, because a snake oil salesman on youtube lies about vaccines so he can peddle useless pills to you.
