This one, Pholcus, is right up there with P. tep. as the most common spider I encounter. You’ve probably got them living in your house right now: it’s the cellar spider!

    I suspect the truly squeamish have already fled.

    For some reason, the top picture reminds me of Groucho Marx.

    Morning PZ. Would like to suggest techniques for better Spider photos. First, longer focal length lens, 100mm f2.8 would give far better results than ‘macro’ lens you have. 100mm lens gives true 1:1, where as your EF-S night give 1:2 at best, and probably closer to 1:3. Another, more difficult lens to use would be MP-E 65. Careful with this one, it very difficult to use. Good lighting is essential so flash system such as MT-24 or MT-26EX gives good results.     When shooting with your current rig would suggest not shooting beyond f5.6. Anymore with this lens will introduce diffractions errors – quantum theory sucks :)
