Just one more spider for today, then I’ll stop, I promise
This one, Pholcus, is right up there with P. tep. as the most common spider I encounter. You’ve probably got them living in your house right now: it’s the cellar spider!
What happened to the cut-tags to protect the arachnophobes?
I suspect the truly squeamish have already fled.
For some reason, the top picture reminds me of Groucho Marx.

Yeah, serious arachnophobe here. Gonna have to take a break from this space, sorry to say.

Morning PZ. Would like to suggest techniques for better Spider photos. First, longer focal length lens, 100mm f2.8 would give far better results than ‘macro’ lens you have. 100mm lens gives true 1:1, where as your EF-S night give 1:2 at best, and probably closer to 1:3. Another, more difficult lens to use would be MP-E 65. Careful with this one, it very difficult to use. Good lighting is essential so flash system such as MT-24 or MT-26EX gives good results. This is example of MP-E 65 at 3.5x and f2.8 with MT-24EX on 5D II body https://www.flickr.com/photos/coraxyn/6128064699/in/album-72157604114781638/lightbox/ This little guy is about 1mm long. Another sample using sam set-up: https://www.flickr.com/photos/coraxyn/5926846562/in/album-72157604114781638/lightbox/
When shooting with your current rig would suggest not shooting beyond f5.6. Anymore with this lens will introduce diffractions errors – quantum theory sucks :)
The mildly deranged penguin points out it is often tomorrow somewhere on the planet, and here there is no reason for stopping for the day. Bring on the cheeses !
(I point out this is about spiders. She points out there are eight-fanged cheeses. I don’t ask…)

I’ll see your phobopheric arachnid and raise you this spine tingling cat-spider burglar that triggered my CCTV a while ago:
