Ruheforst Mushrooms, part 2

A few more of the mushroom specimens snapped by Avalus at the natural burial forest.

Everything was totally dry and this one excreted water. I was (and still am) very puzzled. ©Avalus, all rights reserved

Thanks Avalus. I really like the different perspectives that you’ve used. Each one seems perfectly suited to its subject. Check back tomorrow for the next installment of ‘shrooms.

I love the first one, that looks like some sort of guttation, but I don’t know why fungi do it.

My favourite though are the squeezing fun guys. That is fascinating.

The first one is just sweating, must have been a hot day. Interestingly, from wikipedia on perspiration,

Some exogenous organic compounds make their way into sweat as exemplified by an unidentified odiferous “maple syrup” scented compound in several of the species in the mushroom genus Lactarius.

I don’t know if that applies, but it certainly sounds delicious!

@rq: it did only smell slightly of rotten wood. Not maple syrup, sadly.
@Nightjar: then you will like a few of the other photos.
@Marcus: May well be, I only know a general name, that applies to a several species.
