Stephen Colbert walks us through the main aspects of the latest Russia-Trump story, this time containing actual information involving Donald Trump Jr.’s efforts to get damaging information about Hillary Clinton from Russian sources, a story that includes a Russian pop star, his oligarch father, and a British promoter.
Eddie Izzard has long been my favorite stand up comedian. I think s/he is positively brilliant. I love the seemingly stream of consciousness patter, the mimicking of conversations, allusions to the Bible and history and popular culture, and the ability to find humor in the most mundane aspects of life. There are many clips from the live performances available on YouTube (many of which I have linked to in the past) but if you can get hold of the full performances that are available on DVD, they are well worth it.

I have got to the stage where I simply zip past any news story about the absurd things that Donald Trump says or tweets or the rumors and gossip about White House goings on. It seems to be not worth it to follow those squirrels that Trump seems to release every day, given his unlimited capacity for lying.

Bee was depressed about the current state of affairs in Trumpland and decided that she needed help quickly or she would go off the edge. So she went for advice to senator Elizabeth Warren.
Pretty much everyone must have seen the clip of the way that Smarmy Piers Morgan (I believe that is his full name) was hilariously put down by his TV co-host Susanna Reid, and the expression on his face as it slowly dawned on him that he was having his own words turned on him by his co-presenters. I came across this clever mashup of British prime minister Theresa May into scenes from the iconic film Monty Python and the Holy Grail. It is from a show that appeared on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation network and is remarkably well done, though one’s enjoyment of it will be greater if one is familiar with the film.
The frightening and false information that is being propagated by anti-vaxxers has led many people to either not vaccinate their children or decide on changing the rate at which the dosages are given, which is also dangerous. These people claim that they are not anti-vaccine but are merely seeking safer vaccines or methods of delivery. But their actions are harming the population at large.

Cartoonist Ruben Bolling captures well the absurdity of the idea that health care should be left to the so-called ‘free market’ (in reality a monopoly or quasi-monopoly market) and that each of us should shop around to find the best possible health insurance for our families. Health care is vastly more complicated than pretty much anything else in our lives. Access to basic health care should be universal and free and paid for by the government out of our taxes. It is just that simple.
Donald Trump had his first full cabinet meeting yesterday, almost five months into his administration, with that fact alone showing how poorly his administration is run. And to top it off, the meeting seemed designed to praise the Dear Leader in a manner that would have made even North Korea’s Kim Jong Un blush. Stephen Colbert describes what happened, and it is interesting (if gag-inducing) to see how far people, even those who are arrogant in other settings, are willing to debase themselves when they are close to someone with power over them.
