I felt the same way about Target, Walmart, and other companies. They get no gov’t funding, so there’s no reason for them to adhere to gov’t rules. Their advertising they plan on discriminating in hiring just makes me stay away from them.
McDonald’s is another, Toyota and Amazon (of course) and a whole list. I’m not sure how many URLs I can post without it breaking this post, but I searched on “what companies are rolling back DEI” and got several pages of results.

It’s almost as if the suits at the top have remembered that they’re in the business of selling cars or tractors or beer or whatever. They were told DEI would positively impact their business – they must have been told that, or they’d never have gone along with it in the first place. They’ve tried it, it’s cost them a bunch of money and the payback has obviously been too low (or on record as measurably negative, in the case of Bud Light) so they’re abandoning it. Why would anyone expect them to keep on doing it?
Most businesses are not run as political statements, they just want the money. Yay capitalism. For a nice while there, the money was on DEI. That time has passed. That’s the market. That’s *democracy*. If you didn’t go out and buy a van load of Bud Light while the MAGA crowd were boycotting, you’ve no business complaining about companies listening to the customer.
I just hope the wheel turns and it comes back, because it looks like it’s only getting worse for the next four years.

I’m thinking that we have less than two years. If we don’t have midterm elections, or if the midterms don’t put Democrats in charge of both houses of Congress, that’ll be the end. Even if we do see a return to basic human decency, I fear that it’ll still take a lot longer than four years to recover from what the Muskrats have already done.

So true, Bill (@5).
It’s been 25 years for Russia / Russian Federation so far, and there’s no sign of any recovery soon. In two years it will become clear whether the USA will find a reason not to need to bother with an election in 2028.
(On a barely related note: one grandchild’s wiki entry contains an amusing error terrible mistake for at least the next half hour or so.)
