The news is full of ‘journalists’ who are doing nothing but placing bets on the horse race they’ve been reporting on. There is no information there, only last minute efforts to manipulate the vote. Ignore them.

And I remind far right types that the military votes by mail and those denied the vote by ballot retain the right to vote by bullet.
Oddly, they don’t deny that combat veterans know how to fight, nor do they want to persist in attempting to deny out ballot.
Pity none tried to say that the vote denied military would join them, had a urinalysis container ready to see what drugs they were high on…
Those in the rest of the world are watching and holding their breath. Many of us are anyhow myself included.

I’ve already done it. I put on an NBC suit, enclosed my absentee ballot in one of those insolation booths with the robotic manipulator arms, and still somehow hold my nose and voted for every Democrat–the slightly less racist, sexist, plutocratic, and theistic party–on the list. For every single candidate race ( they were all fucking fascists) I wrote in my own name. I got my ballot witnessed and sent it off weeks ago. Now, I’ll sit back, relax, and watch as the fucking knuckle-draggers undo whatever paltry, milquetoast advances the Dems over the last two years because paying a extra buck-a-galloon at the pollution pumps is more important than progress.
What’s that? I should canvas for Dem candidates? That would get you shot around these parts. Drive friends to the polls? All my friends live outside my district and, again, everyone around here is a MAGAt. Volunteer at a phone bank? I’d end up getting into screaming fights with all the filthy redneck trash. No, I’m done what I am capable of doing for president and country. If this civilization choose fascism over democracy, barbarism over socialism, superstition over secularism, then it’s not my fucking fault.

I have my sample ballot completed and am ready to vote tomorrow. Voting for two nominal Republicans who are judges with excellent records and both are actively working to bring transparency to judicial rulings and sentencing. Otherwise, all Dems.
I am limiting my news exposure because I am getting sick watching a Peter Thiel acolyte pretend to be a MAGAT in order to win a Senate seat. (The fact that there is more than one state experiencing this phenomenon makes it worse.)
I agree with PZ: look around at what’s actually happening in the USA today, and vote your conscience.
And pay no attention to what the TV pundits say; they’re mostly just pushing neo-lib self-fulfilling prophecies. I remember one “Politics Monday” segment on The PBS Newshour, back when Bernie Sanders was still a viable candidate for the Democratic nomination, and Amy Walter could hardly construct a simple declarative sentence without some version of “electable” in it. It wasn’t even subtle. Indeed, I’d describe it as shameless.
Also, it’s not clear to me that the pundits even really know what they’re doing considering how much emphasis they give to the president’s approval rating and the “right direction wrong track” question. Yeah, I think that America is on the wrong track right now; but that’s because the wackaloons are now in charge on the right. You can’t infer from that that I intend to vote Republican! It doesn’t seem to me to be much of a statistic when you don’t even know the sign.
Having said all that, I confess that, tomorrow night, I’ll probably be multitasking between the election coverage on PBS and 538’s live blog; but that’s because I care about the result of the election. I will have already voted by then.
There is no fucking point of watching the returns. This is politics, not quantum mechanics. What will happen will happen, and observing the news won’t change the outcome. My blood pressure and anxiety are already high enough without watching the collapse of civilization is real-time. (I made that mistake back in 2016.)

yes I voted already as well I have not missed many votes might have back in the early 70’s i can’t remember or I do not want to try a figure it out anyway water under the bridge. Well if and when the wackaloon rightwing hood and arm band wearing take over and try to go back to some imagined past they will find it to be very difficult Kind of like what has been said about Putin’s war he might be able to occupy the whole country (that aint going to plan) but we have learned that it is holding it is the hard part. I remember the huge protests that erupted when the orange A****** e was ‘elected’ There is one thing that can be said about the U.S. the people do not like being told what to do there ain’t no way that to happen without some serious resistance would make the 60’s anti-war and civil rights movement demonstrations look like sunday in the park.
Yes, we voted by turning our ballots in at the ballot box inside the County building. Here in Scarizona, there are too many lunatics both running for office and intimidating voters with guns and cameras (in spite of recent court rulings against it). Scarizona, due to all the news items everywhere, has become the laughingstock of the nation. Since 2019, we have been trying to find a way and a place to escape the madness: no luck so far.

We sat down with our ballots and a glass of wine two weeks ago. We discussed and researched as we marked the ballots.
When we were finished, we put our ballots in a drop off box at the nearby city hall.
Two days later, we each received an email from the county elections board telling us that our ballots had been received and counted. California has such a sophisticated way of dealing with elections!
We voted in Texas for 26 years, and I once requested our voting record and found that for both of us, our votes weren’t counted in critical elections. Usually, there were vague “questions” about our voting status, despite the fact that we were homeowners and taxpayers in Texas for 26 years. I’m convinced that the “questions” stemmed from the fact that we were both registered Democrats.
