From the other side of the pond, I wish I could vote. The US is capable of fucking things up so well beyond their borders, I think the entire planet should have say in this election. The only thing I can say to my American friends is what I said 4 years ago which was DON’T VOTE FOR THE FUCKING NARCISTIC LYING BIGOTED SEXIST RACIST CHEATING THIEVING MURDERING CORRUPT RAPIST TRAITOR. This year I’ll add AGAIN.

Oh, it’s a lot more important than that! I’d say this is the most consequential election in global history. A Trump victory – whether genuine* (FiveThirtyEight still gives Trump a 10% chance) or imposed by corrupt courts andor violence – would not only be a huge victory for fascism everywhere, it would likely put paid to the already slim chance of avoiding catastrophic climate disruption, resulting in civilizational collapse if not human extinction.
*Obviously, even a “genuine” Trump win would have been brought about by years of systematic lying, gerrymandering and vote suppression, but it can still be distinguished from an actual election-stealing coup by force andor fraud.

State auditor, Nicole Galloway, is a long-shot to replace the Republican incumbent as governor. I expect to be sad but unsurprised.
538 is giving Democrat Jill Shupp one chance in three to flip Missouri’s Second Congressional District. One in three isn’t too bad, so there’s still a reason to hope for a Democratic landslide.
And there’s a Republican constitutional amendment that reverses an anti-Gerrymandering amendment that passed in 2018. Best guess is that that example of Republican shamelessness (as if we needed another example) will go down in flames, so I can hope for good news there.
