Google has a bunch of results around Valentine’s Day too. (Nothing to do with a pandemic.) And there are results from last year. And 2018. And 2017. I did not bother to look for more spam before that.

From Vicar’s link in #4:
Even content producers that MindGeek owns have trouble getting their movies off MindGeek’s tube sites. The result has been a vampiric ecosystem: MindGeek’s producers make porn films mostly for the sake of being uploaded on to MindGeek’s free tube sites, with lower returns for the producers but higher returns for MindGeek, which makes money off of the tube ads that does not go to anyone involved in the production side.
I don’t know if this is still accurate. (The article was from 2014.) But this seems to imply the creators are only paid for the “premium” content, not from ad revenue on the ordinarily “free” (in effect, pirated) content which is branded as non-premium.
So, if the company has a “free premium” offer (which seems to happen all the time, assuming it’s not just a complete lie), then do the creators still get paid? And if they do, then where does that money come from? Is it all about the ads now? Or are they being stiffed on that end of the deal too?

Uh … looks around cautiously … never heard of pornhub before now. Well, maybe I’m seen an ad or two. I vaguely recall something with two good-looking young women, not fully clothed, and some kind of object.
OK, well maybe I’ve seen two or three items; been there, done that, as the saying goes. I’ll just pass on by this time.
Wait, where is my professionalism? I should check it out just to see if the report is true. I was in the newspaper a long time, after all. I cannot honestly comment on something without investigating it, now can I?
It’s very strange. Over the last couple of weeks I’ve trained myself into such a state of paranoia over keeping at least two metres away from other nasty, filthy, potentially infectious humans that I shudder now and feel pangs and anxiety when I see them closer together than that. Even in films and pictures. So porn gives me very strange mixed messages at the moment.
One wonders quite why there is any need for this “premium” pornographic content though, when there is so much out there that’s free.
A petition is calling on the site to prevent non-consensual videos being posted — and highlights the lack of industry regulation
[…]
Let me be clear: this isn’t about censorship or stifling kinks — there are plenty of ethical porn companies who have strong systems in place to ensure everyone involved in production is a consenting adult. This is about a huge corporation profiting from non-consensual videos — and an industry that publishes abusive content with no regulatory body or government holding them to account.
[…]
In a statement to the Guardian, Pornhub has insisted it has robust procedures to stop illegal content being posted. Pornhub has a steadfast commitment to eradicating and fighting non-consensual content and under-age material. Any suggestion otherwise is categorically and factually inaccurate.
From memory, that is also the site where various loathsome groups (e.g., the Shooty McShootface “TV” channel, I vaguely recall) retreated after they were kicked off other hosting sites.

If all the usually-curved features show up as flat, Pornhub’s offer may not attract a lot of eyeballs.

Nice sentiment, but what I see is a promotion based on opportunity.
A clever one, apparently.

Reminder that whether or not you like porn, PornHub’s parent company MindGeek is extremely horrible.

Yeah… the sentiment is good, but this is PornHub. Bever, ever support PornHub.
