Cool! I did know about scallop eyes; I even managed to photograph them long long ago but their photos are much better than mine. But that is amazing about conchs. I did not know about that!

The mildly deranged penguin points out those are the mouthpeices for the conch “shell” trumpet. The shell is the trumpet’s bell, and the other bits inside comprise the rest of the trumpet’s workings. The so-called “eyestalk regeneration” is just removing, cleaning, and replacing the mouthpeice.
Two-mouthpeice trumpets were an attempt to compete with double reeds, she claims. They were not very successful, and are now only found as novelties. Hence the rather fantastical gooey inner workings and shell-shape of this trumpet.
