I’m not sure how anyone can feel alone in their cynicism and despair anymore. Diogenes of Sinope would probably look askance at it all and mutter “bit much” into his barrel if he could see the state of politics these days.

Oh I get it ? It’s cynicism and sarcasm. Everyone who is Evil, wins after nuclear War while everyone with any value, loses. As much as CNN is becoming crappy they tell fewer lies than FoxNoise.
A poor excuse for clever cynicism that fails to rise to the level of CNN.
I get more ‘darkly satirical’ myself. Cynical would require more detachment – but note the last line especially.
It’s a pretty good indictment of the cynical, totally decontextualized “how’s this latest ploy working out for the party leadership”-style reporting and the usual end results thereof. (As opposed to an — alas, mostly hypothetical — “how’s this policy working out for the governed” style.)
Can we be certain this isn’t just writers wanting to publish their online articles before the actual event? That way at least people can read it while the necessary infrastructure still exists. Cynicism and despair have proven to be very reliable models fo the future.
