I wish I had an octopus like this! I would love him and play with him and feed him and take him for walks and dress him up and love him ever so much!

The octopus that is currently on display at Monterey Bay Aquarium is perhaps the most enthusiastic, energetic cephalopod (in captivity) that I have seen in my life. Highly recommended if you are in the area.

When I was about 4 my dad was doing some research at Friday Harbour and did some operation or other on a giant pacific octopus and the colours and patterns it went through as they tried to get it under control to anaesthetise it were the scariest and most amazing things I’d seen up to then.
Which is probably why I found 2001 a bit dull.
