Eaton was the Minnetonka school board member and advocate of Intelligent Design creationism who abruptly resigned, shortly after his attempts to weaken his school district’s science standards were quashed. You wouldn’t know anything about that bit of backstory from this puff piece on Eaton, which has little but praise for the man and explains his departure by quoting him as saying he is “not leaving for any health, family or career reasons.”
C’mon, Strib. Come clean and say it. We know why he left: it’s because his brand of creationism was decisively crushed in Minnetonka, and he knew he was marginalized and isolated.

Improved the board by his departure, you say.

Yes, just as he’ll improve the planet, as well as both the aggregate and average IQ, when he dies.

Has he gone somewhere he can do more damage though…

Between this article and the front page story on the “young hip and reverent” of the twin cities I am beginning to wonder if the Stib has been bought by Rupert Murdoch.
Dave Eaton says
Damn, despite the name, we are exact opposites. I’m anti-ID, pro-science, and no one ever accused me of being “a very quiet, very thoughtful person”.
So long, evil anti-Dave. (Or am I the evil anti-Dave? Hmm, it’s probably a perspective thing. In any case, the SOB got on my nerves, giving Dave Eatons a bad name, and trying to undermine science education).

Rats–when I saw “Dave Eaton on Awfully vague article about Dave Eaton” in the recent comments, I was looking forward to some entertaining fireworks!

I definitely think the article avoided the mention of creationism like the plague. It was Eaton’s push for creationism – NOT his push for financial accountability, which marginalized him on the Minnetonka school board. This is very poor reporting by the strib. People should write letters to the editor (especially Dave Eaton, whose name is being tarnished by Eaton the creationist).

Ya, no kidding, He was oh so lambasted…
When are people going to stop buying the sobbing prima-donna tripe that the right makes its money on? WHY DO PEOPLE BUY THAT CRAP? That’s exactly what they criticized the Dems for doing, yet they play this book every day.
Sounds to me like Eaton was a partisan that couldn’t handle reality.

This is why having an unique name is the way to go.
Unless you want to lame someone else of course.
