So… back on February 27th, it was reported that Heir Tanline wanted to sink another $54 Billion US into our “defense” budget.
How did he plan on doing this?
President Trump put both political parties on notice Monday that he intends to slash spending on many of the federal government’s most politically sensitive programs — relating to education, the environment, science and poverty — to protect the economic security of retirees and to shift billions more to the armed forces.
The proposal to increase military spending by $54 billion and cut nonmilitary programs by the same amount was unveiled by White House officials as they prepared the president’s plans for next year’s federal budget. Aides to the president said final decisions about Medicare and Social Security would not be made until later in the year, when he announces his full budget. But Sean Spicer, his spokesman, cited Mr. Trump’s campaign commitments about protecting those programs and vowed that “he’s going to keep his word to the American people.”
Welp… he’s already started…
First, he’s looking to cut 37% of the State Department budget.
The Trump administration is proposing a 37 percent spending cut for the State Department and U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), according to multiple reports.
U.S. officials say the suggested decrease would likely require laying off employees, including security contractors at diplomatic facilities overseas, The Associated Press said Tuesday.
The AP said development assistance would likely take the biggest hit, citing officials familiar with the proposal.
The agencies together received $50.1 billion during the current fiscal year, it added, a little more than 1 percent of the total federal budget.
Second, he wants to cut 24% of the EPA budget:
The Trump administration plans to propose a one-forth cut to the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) budget, a plan that would end up laying off 20 percent of the agency’s staffers, according to reports.
Trump officials will propose a $6.1 billion budget for the EPA next year, a $2 billion cut from current levels, according to reports in E&E News and Politico, citing sources.
The agency’s staffing levels would fall to 12,000 workers, from 15,000 currently, according to the reports.
An EPA spokesman did not immediately return a request for comment from The Hill.
The proposed spending levels at the EPA come on the day the White House sent spending blueprints to federal agencies ahead of a budget rollout next month. Trump is planning a $54 billion cut in domestic discretionary spending, which would then be used to increase spending for the Defense Department.
I haven’t seen what else he wants to cut in order to increase our military spending even more than it already is.
Welcome to the Military States of America…
