PPP looks about to snap

Imagine you had to talk to Republicans. Every day. And pretend they weren’t idiots. How long do you think you’d last before you just snapped?

Public Policy Polling looks like its patience is wearing thin:

49% of GOP voters nationally say they think that ACORN stole the election for President Obama. Wefound that 52% of Republicans thought that ACORN stole the 2008 election for Obama, so this is a modest decline, but perhaps smaller than might have been expected given that ACORN doesn’t exist anymore [emphasis mine].

I understand you don’t get your gift phone unless you have a personal relationship with ACORN in your heart.

You didn’t even quote the funniest part of the article!

-As much of an obsession as Bowles/Simpson can be for the DC pundit class, most Americans don’t have an opinion about it. 23% support it, 16% oppose it, and 60% say they don’t have a take one way or the other.

The 39% of Americans with an opinion about Bowles/Simpson is only slightly higher than the 25% with one about Panetta/Burns, a mythical Clinton Chief of Staff/former western Republican Senator combo we conceived of to test how many people would say they had an opinion even about something that doesn’t exist.

  3. Crip Dyke, MQ, Right Reverend Feminist FuckToy of Death & Her Handmaiden says

I follow this stuff and I didn’t remember what Bowles/Simpson was until they said the bit about “former western senator”. Then I was like, okay: the automatic cuts/fiscal cliff thing that is happening and the committee that was supposed to come up with better ideas for defecit reduction but, ultimately, failed.
I even remembered “Erskine” (Ermine skin?) and “Alan”. Of course, I’m out of the country. If I’d been in the states radio news or something would likely have reminded me, but hey, it didn’t. And 40+ percent of random people remember Bowles/Simson? Really? Sure.

That’s why the Panetta/Burns thing was so damn funny. I’d love a state by state breakdown of who was unwilling to admit that they hand’t heard of Panetta/Burns. And one by party. And one by age – is this young folk who want to seem politically hip? Or is it older folk who just want to express an opnion on everything? Or older folk trying to seem politically hip? etc…. It’s all so amusing I can’t stand it.

There is a breakdown by how respondents voted for president.

With respect to the hilarious Panetta/Burns: there’s no significant difference between those who voted for Obama and those who voted for Romney as far as being honest about not having an opinion. Obama voters 73%; Romney voters 75%. Obama voters were slight more likely to have an opinion on the non-existent staffer, but the margin is too small to mean much.

There is a more significant difference if you voted for someone else, or didn’t remember. Folks in that category are 89% no opinion on Panetta/Burns.

One minor point: Q14 “In the last presidential election, did you vote for Barack Obama or Mitt Romney?” There was no option for “did not vote”. Does this mean only people who voted in the presidential election were polled?

    Interesting GIF, Ian.

I’m going to give you the benefit of a doubt and presume you don’t think that it’s funny or in any way amusing. I mean, what could possibly be funny or amusing about a baby elephant getting the shit kicked out of it? Although that does raise the question of why you chose to publish it here?

  6. Runcibald says

To be fair, the question was awful. The options were:
    1) Obama legitimately won the election
    2) ACORN stole it
    3) not sure

So basically either ACORN stole the election, or it was legitimate. I think all you can really say from this is that almost half of republicans don’t think Obama legitimately won the election. That’s still ridiculous, but the fact that ACORN no longer exists is mostly irrelevant.

  7. Psychopomp Gecko says

Given that ACORN doesn’t exist anymore *elephant gets kicked and goes flying*

Must have done it solely for those of us that do find it funny.

  8. johnwalker says

That is doubly infuriating, given that the same people were tricked into the outrage that got ACORN dismantled. And now they don’t even remember?!

  9. says

I chose to publish it here because I suspected that there would be one dimbulb who would try to raise a stink about it.

Thank you for standing up and identifying yourself.

Hey, they are the same idiots who believe Iraq had WMDs and believe that Iran wants a nuclear weapon. Why be surprised?
