Roadside Encounter of the Spider kind

During my photo stroll last week I encountered this little fellow marching across the street. She was not exactly camouflaged there, bright orange in the evening sun, with white spots.

Pictures bellow the fold.

Marching across the white reflective stripe at the edge of the road. bold as brass.

I let her crawl onto my hand, not disturbing her – there are no dangerous spiders here, but being bitten is unpleasant even so. Her legs tickled. ©Charly, all rights reserved. Click for full size.

She did not like being on my thumb though and quickly dropped into the grass, where she curled up and skulked for a while.

C’mon, get out of there so I can take a picture, I haven’t got all evening!

Final attempt at photographing the spots on her back. Not much luck there.

So. CUTE. And what a thoughtful spider too -- you may be glad she did not commandeer your thumb and demand that you relinquish it for her exclusive use!

This is awesome! The second last is such a fine shot of her pretty face!
And congratulations on letting her walk on your hand, I’m still not there with my spider feelings.
