Lilac Potato Blossom

Some potatoes have lilac colored blossoms, I do not know why. It does not seem to be entirely dependent on which variety it is, since there are both white and lilac in one row and that row allegedly contains only one variety. My suspicion is however that my dad mixed up the tubers inadvertently and that the lilac blossoms are those from the red potatoes (I do not know the exact variety we bought this year).

We grew purple potatoes one year and the blossoms were distinctly purplish.
There was only one hill of purples but a few of the neighbouring white potatoes had purple streaks in the flesh.

The pale lilac and the rich, egg-yolk-like orange-yellow seem to go well together.

The wee fly is also enjoying the colour, and the view while sunbathing up there.
Also I think it’s just a colour mutation, much like you can have the same variety of geraniums in different colours. You should mark off the purple flowers and see if the potatoes underneath are different, come harvest.
