The video above comes from NASA’s newly released video archive, and shows a 1970s wingtip vortices test at Langley Research Center in Virginia. The results are visually stunning.
Wow. I’m used to seeing very small ones when watching Formula 1 races in certain weather conditions -- the rear wings of the cars can produce similar vortices. Same aerodynamic principles, just literally turned upside-down.
But that video was much more dynamic, loved it.
