Nothing secedes like secession

Have you heard of a debt plan called Panetta/Burns, similar to Bowles-Simpson? No? Good, because there is no such plan. Did you know ACORN stole the election for Obama? Nope? Also wise, see below. How about secession, the last refuge of a fake patriot or a real traitor? This new PPP poll (.pdf) has all that and more. Some highlights:

Atlantic Wire — The funniest poll of the afternoon comes from the folks over at Public Policy Polling, who have results that are new and legitimate results (if a bit heavy on the forced fantasy questions) finding that 49 percent of Republicans and six percent of Democrats believe ACORN stole the 2012 election for Barack Obama — despite the pesky fact that ACORN folded in 2010. How … wait … huh?

Since when do nit-picky trivia like mere facts have any influence on Republicans’ opinions?

I had a friend back in 2008-2009 who was all about ACORN stealing the election. So I asked him:

“Who broke the story about the questionable voter registrations collected by ACORN?”

“I don’t know, but it’s been on Fox News.”

“Would it surprise you that ACORN itself went public with the story that they were getting a lot of questionable voter registrations? Some of their workers were turning in obviously fake registrations. They were forbidden by law from tossing out these registrations, so they passed them along to the local registrar with a note that they might be problematic. They even talked to local media where they were having problems to send a signal that they were serious about collecting legit registrations. That story got twisted into one where they were intentionally collecting fake registrations.”

    “But they collected fake registrations.”

“Dude, they admitted they did and went to the press to say how they were trying to correct this in accord with local laws. Do you really think they would go public if their whole intention was to commit vote fraud?”

    Speaking of fake patriots…

    http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/12/04/ron-paul-super-pac-spent-most-of-its-money-on-non-campaign-activities/

The pro-Ron Paul group Revolution PAC spent 83 percent of its $1.2 million total fundraising haul on administrative costs and not on campaign activities, Bloomberg News revealed Tuesday.

Bloomberg‘s report noted that Revolution PAC director Gary Franchi paid himself and his companies roughly $153,000, including money for the PAC’s rent.

HA HAHA hahaha ha… ha… holy shit.

I guess this is what happens when individuals place their own rational self interest above all else as directed in the teachings of the Prophet Profit Ayn, correct?

(Also, Stephen, have you considered using something like this as part of your fundraising drive? You know, collect donations in the name of widows and orphans or whatever, then just steal all the money use it to pay yourself for administering the fund?)

Especially amusing are the people in the comments who believe that SuperPACs and candidates are independent of each other. I don’t think anyone believes this other than wingnuts. The entire concept of SuperPAC independence is a mockery of logic.

Oh man, I’ve had the comments section on Rawstory hidden with adblock for so long I forgot they were even there. LOL

(The parallel universe I live in doesn’t have those ‘Twitter’ or ‘Facebook’ things, either. It’s pretty nice over here, actually.)
