There’s a certain amount of undeniable karma in this. For months Romney has been reanimating the “Obama apologizes for America” zombie abomination. Now, in the space of a few hours, on what was supposed to be some kind of foreign policy baptism by fire during peacetime, Romney finds himself apologizing profusely into every camera and mic he can find while on foreign soil:
WaPo— For any candidate on a foreign trip, the margin for error is small, with every misstep magnified, fairly or not — especially so for Romney, whose visit is drawing inevitable comparisons to Barack Obama’s largely successful foreign tour as a candidate in 2008.
The notoriously harsh British media spewed out brutal headlines about what they almost uniformly deemed a bomb of a debut for Romney. The criticism reverberated across the Atlantic and into the United States, overshadowing a day in which Romney wanted to polish his diplomatic credentials, although his surrogates insisted that they were not worried about overseas coverage.
It may be cliche, but if Mittens can’t navigate the friendliest NATO landscape on something as uncontroversial as the Olypmics, what can he handle? I mean how hard is it to answer a softball question and hit every freakin political theme you could want?
Q: Mr Romney, what do you think of the 2012 Olympics so far?
A: Brian, it’s amazing, everyone involved should feel proud of the job they’ve done. Hosting the games, thousands and thousands of athletes and sports fans from dozens of countries, right in the heart of the one of the oldest, busiest, most magnificent cities in the world. And on a personal note, I want to thank the committee members and Olympic personnel and, frankly, the people of London: you’ve not only brought back fond memories for Anne and I, seeing so many people from so many nations compete feircely and peacefully, you’ve reminded us of what’s really important, you’ve brought the entire world together, and that brings everyone hope for the future during a time when so many people back in my country and here in the UK are worried and struggling.

Even Boris Johnson, favourite target for mockers, mocked him, in front of 60k people.Cameron, i beleive, also had a jibe, along the lines of, it being easy to hold a games in the middle of nowhere.
