Mittens is under assault by Rick Santourm and Newt Gingrich. Initial results from the Iowa caucuses two weeks ago had Mitt up on Santorum by a lonely eight votes. Those results have been retabulated and the adjusted numbers indicate a Santorum victory by several dozen votes. To make matters worse, Newt has picked up some real big mo in South Carolina and now is polling dead even or slightly ahead of Romney:
(TPM) — The TPM Poll Average for South Carolina is now Gingrich 32%, Romney 31.5%, Paul 14.6%, Santorum 11.5%. In truth, Gingrich’s momentum looks so overwhelming the only thing that could stop him would be a last minute tell-all interview from an ex-wife saying he wanted to have an open marriage.
This is potentially disastrous for Mittens, because it would mean that hard-hitting attacks on his wealth and utter inability to control his yap about it are hurting him with Republican voters. The scary inference for the Romney campaign here wouldn’t be that Gingrich wins the primary, we would never be that lucky, it suggest that those same attacks could cripple Mittens with indie voters.

“Several dozen votes” is apparently imprecise.
Santorum won the contest with Romney by 69.

So .. santorum surges again as Perry departs from the rear with Gingrich still behind and Mittens may have climaxed as his polls are going down?

Oops – typo – make that :
