Reports are swirling that GOP front-runner Herman Cain was involved in two sexual harassment cases back in the 90s and the alleged victims were paid off:
The report said the women signed agreements with the restaurant group that gave them five-figure financial payouts to leave the association and barred them from discussing their departures. Neither woman was identified. The report was based on anonymous sources and, in one case, what the publication said was a review of documentation that described the allegations and the resolution.
The big problem with these kind of allegations is it’s almost impossible to know if they’re accurate or bunk. I’ve witnessed women who were brutally, openly, relentlessly pursued by their immediate bosses in the workplace, and I’ve seen at least one case where it looked completely fabricated and motivated by greed and vengeance.

Since false accusations of sex crimes are at the same level as other crimes our default is that it is a serious accusation (not that it’s 100% true for sure, but that the concern is not a trivial one) This is an issue that Cain has to address and we should not let it be brushed under the rug and ignored.

I think one problem isn’t that some are false and some are true like other crimes, is that it’s so difficult to distinguish between them when investigating. These are the kinds of cases that often turn into he said she said, and either one of the principles could be completely lying or telling the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

I don’t have the facts to back this up, but I think Herman Cain [insert humor].
