We all hate losing, but we need to keep some kind of realistic perspective on the stakes and the game.
Madoff made it his life’s work to demonstrate the folly of having insiders within an industry (securities exchange) regulate it. Madoff served with distinction on a number of organizations that purported to be helping make the stock market less scammy – little did they know. And Madoff rubbed shoulders with the rich and famous (whose pockets he was picking, while he was doing it) and politicians (whose pockets he was lining, with the money he picked elsewhere).
When a cop shoots a black person, it takes about 20 nanoseconds (if that) before the defensive reaction sets in and that person’s background is trawled through, looking for possible reasons that they might have been a bad person who maybe deserved to be shot. Because a bad, meth-smoking, counterfeit-carrying person somehow deserves a humiliating death face-down on concrete while they cry for their mother?
It’s pretty much impossible to bend around and take a picture of the back of your own leg. I am familiar with mirrors and gimbals and whatnot, but there’s never one around, when you need it.

I had a pretty bleah Sunday. I actually wrote a pretty good grumpy screed about voting, but then Verizon (motto: “shitty networking, but expensive!”) and my browser conspired to lose it.
The reports are in on the shooting of Michael Forest Reinoehl, the ‘antifa-adjacent’ who shot a “patriot prayer” streetfighter and was gunned down in return several days later.
