It’s really not Jazzlet’s fault; it was just something that they said, which made me pick up a pretty small piece of twist damascus and try to hammer it into a little knife suitable for wrenching the eyes out of potatoes.
If you look at the laws passed in the United States from the very beginning of the American republic down to the present day, you’ll find that most of the legislation passed is class legislation that favors the elite, that favors the rich.
The obvious answer is: “be Afghani.” That implies being in place, having local support (whether coerced, enthusiastic or not) and being indistinguishable from the local population. That’s an approximate recipe for a successful insurgency.
It must be great times for the pentagon: a blockhead in the white house who’ll spend any amount on “defensive” weaponry, and law-makers from both parties that will sign any check so long as it’s for wars. Shopaholic heaven!
One thing I hate doing is digging post-holes. There is always a rock or something in exactly the wrong spot and by the time you’ve dug a foot or two down you know that: 1) you’re 1/3 of the way there 2) you’re at the effective limit of your tools.
