Quoted en bloc from Counterpunch [counterpunch] by Jeffrey StClair.
Police lie. They lie as a matter of course. They lie incidentally. They lie strategically. They lie habitually. They lie when lives are on the line. They lie to protect their own skin. They lie to protect their buddies. They change their stories to fit the facts. They change the “facts” to fit their stories. They lie when they interrogate you. They lie in affidavits and depositions. They lie on TV. They lie in court testimony. They lie to put you away. When the lies run out, they stop talking. They refuse to cooperate. They blame you for not trusting them.
This pattern of lying has played out over the past 10 days since the Uvalde mass shooting. The police lied about what they did. They lied about what they didn’t do. They lied about the time line of the shooting. They lied about who was on the scene, when they got there and what they did. They lied about barricades, 911 calls, and the shooter’s weapons. They lied about doors. They lied about the school resource officer. They lied about a teacher. They lied about their lies.
Meanwhile, contestant for “dumbest man in congress”, Louie Gomert, whined on an interview that “if you’re a republican you can’t lie to the FBI anymore.” Why do people elect the worst examples of humanity to rule over them?

It is even worse than you stated about what Louis Gohmert said:
You would think that a member of Congress would know that it is illegal to lie to Congress, and I am sure that if it was someone he didn’t like, he would want to want to bring the full force of the law down upon them, but since it was poor, poor Navarro, it was sheer persecution.

Also, the suggestion that the antecedentless “they” would “terrorize and torture you” is probably projection.

I’m guessing the Gohmert thing is just sheer, blatant, projection. He lies about everything, his buddies lie about everything, his associates lie about everything, therefore everyone must lie about everything, and it’s really super unfair that only him and his buddies have to face consequences for lying about everything.
Or, he’s just really dumb.
Probably both…
On the other thing, I’ve been seeing (unverified) rumors that the cops are threatening to arrest and charge (with parole violation?) the woman who escaped handcuffs and evaded the cops and went in and retrieved her two children (and I believe a couple others?) for talking to the media (what first amendment?). And also that the cops may have shot one of the kids (again, unverified, but I would be surprised if they didn’t…(I had an “active shooter training” presentation at my previous job, and the cop giving it pretty much threatened to shoot us if we moved, talked, or well, did anything really…))
