The spambots that have been filling stderr’s comment-spam queue sometimes leave me effusive praise. Naturally, I take the praise seriously while rejecting any reasoned critique from real people.

Part 2 was queued and burned a hole in the queue. It was last seen heading (waves vaguely) that way, very fast.
National “talk like a spambot day” is probably not going to happen as a thing, but if I were god-emperor president I would require it. Of course then I’d have to pull all of your comments out of the spam bin, which (looks inside) is plenty full and it looks like some rats got into it.
I deleted 29 of those damn things this morning. Most of them the runescape nonsense, but I got the other ones too.

I have a theory that some of what we’re getting is thanks to a clock parts supplier (?) that decided to spend some money on “search engine optimization” and did not realize they were giving money to the Spam Devil. It didn’t take me very long to figure out what that company is, and their contact information; they seem like a pretty small outfit. I’ve been tempted to call and see if I can talk to their marketing director and find out if they have any actual idea how their name is being dragged through the pit of spam. I have not done this because I am afraid someone will think I am a marketing person and hang up on me, which would be unbearable. (the marketing person bit)
I’m a regular at the forums of the Vintage Synth Explorer website. Lately we’ve had some posts, now deleted, from brand new users that reposted stuff previously posted. I’d love to know what they were trying to do. Establish a backstory for a spam account? (We also get normal spam, like some Vietnamese language furniture spam someone posted yesterday.)
