As Donald Trump drops in the polls, there have been some truly astonishing development within the GOP, with the party establishment worrying that not only will he lose and lose big, but that he will drag down the party in down ballot races and thus they will lose control of the US Senate and even, in the most extreme scenario, the House of Representatives.

Given the umbrage that Donald Trump took when asked by Khizr Khan as to whether he had even read the US constitution, people have taken to turning up at his rallies with pocket copies of it, prompting the question as to how familiar people are with this much cited document. The Guardian has come up with a pop quiz on facts connected to it. I got 8/10 correct.
One of the distinguishing features of the Donald Trump campaign has been his breezy assurance that he will defeat all his opponents and win. Almost all candidates try to portray confidence in their own eventual success. That is how they get people to join their campaigns and contribute money. But they also try to temper that with some caveats so that their supporters don’t get complacent.

It looks like all it takes are protestors holding up pocket copies of the US constitution to distract Donald Trump from his speech and cause the audience to chant “USA! USA!” and have the constitution bearers ejected. Will they start searching attendees at future rallies to check if they are carrying this dangerous weapon?

During every presidential election season, people look eagerly to see the effects of each party’s convention on the polls. Since the conventions are highly choreographed to show the candidate in the best light, that party candidate’s poll numbers usually rise in the immediate wake of the convention by about 3-4%.

At a time when the Donald Trump camp should be telling all its surrogates to just stop talking about the Khans so that media attention shifts away from this damaging issue, his supporter Ben Carson emerges from hibernation to suggest that all this spectacle could be ended if both Trump and the Khans apologized to each other, though he admitted that this was unlikely to happen. When asked what exactly the Khans should apologize for, Carson was typically vague saying that they had said things about Trump that were not true.
