What was astonishing to me was the Nazi SS symbol they used for their stage.
It was clearly deliberate.
I’m also wondering what the point was here.
Are they going to set up death camps and exterminate Jews, nonwhites, and atheists to make the USA once again, a white xian nation?
White xians are a minority in the USA so they would have to kill 164 million people.
It won’t be as easy as it sounds.
After the first 100 or so, those 164 million people are going to…fight back.
… this not initially intended for GOPers or conservatives who may or may not be aware of such imagery. Rather, it is intended for those on the left to notice and bring it out in the open, and then the right can have a culture-war fight about it. This reinforces their narratives of “cancel culture,” and their persecution complex. I think it is part trolling, part “owning the libs,” and using the libs to educate their own publics.

That’s the second Jimmy Kimmel video I’ve watched.
(Who’s the corpulent stooge with whom he exchanges inanities at the end of the segment?)

Did other people recognize this as an SS symbol? I certainly don’t recall ever seeing that particular symbol it before. I guess I’m not exactly immersed in WW2 trivia, though.

brucegee1962, that’s not the point, is it? Someone, somewhere, was bound to recognise it, and make that recognition public (as Pierce noted @2).
Either it was coincidence, or it was not.
(Which do you estimate is more likely?)
Numenaster, whose eyes are up heresays
Someone paid extra to get their stage built to the shape of an odal rune, with projecting wings that took up space but were used for nothing.
Either it was JUST AN ACCIDENT and this extra cost was incurred for no special reason, or not.
I know which one I’d bet on. Because expensive visual displays don’t just happen by accident.

That awful CPAC anthem is I think best mocked by this pianist.

Holms @#7,
That was hilarious. Couldn’t CPAC find (afford?) a better singer?
