Jeb! Bush’s plan to prevent terrorists sneaking into the US by hiding among the refugees fleeing from the chaos in that region is to allow only Christian refugees. When asked how he could distinguish who was a Christian he replied vaguely that it should be easy for them to prove it. And he is right, as this cartoon shows.

You can rule out Moslems. Have them drink alcohol and eat a ham sandwich. Then draw a picture of Mohammed while reciting the Lord’s prayer.
Of course, this wouldn’t rule out terrorists. Anyone committed to mass murder likely has no problem drinking a beer.
I’m not surprised JE Bush didn’t think of this since he is slow witted. One of the other GOP candidates will figure it out though.

Ha, yes, Taqiyya… That stuff Catholic resistants did in France during WWII: taking thousands of jewish kids in their homes and telling the authorities that these kids were their totally-baptised nephews.
And you know what? I’m absolutely, unapologetically, in favor of this Catholic Taqiyya: if you meet refugees fleeing tyranny and at risk of being rounded up because of their or their parents’ religion: lie: lie the fuck up, lie to authorities, lie to the neighbors you don’t trust, lie to your own relatives if need be: the first duty of anyone who claims to be virtuous is to protect the defenseless against the bullies.

During the cold war, Aldrich Ames and Robert Hanssen were flag waving, patriotism spouting, fervent singers of the Straw Strangled Spammer, but that didn’t stop them from spying for the Soviet Union. Meanwhile during that era, the US government spent millions hounding, arresting, imprisoning, firing and ostracizing LGBTQ people who were no danger at all.
A person’s background and story are a much better barometer of who is or isn’t dangerous. Does anyone really believe a refugee proven to be running away from being murdered poses a greater threat than an ideological fanatic who tries to fit in, operates quietly in isolation (e.g. Timothy McVeigh)? Fanatics can easily rationalize lying in the name of their cause, spew the words others want to hear.

Personally, I think Jeb Bush did have an idea how to screen for Christians: how brown they are.
Now obviously Syrian Christians look middle eastern, but Jeb is just kind of an idiot and didn’t realize his own assumptions.
Though now I think about it, I’m being absurdly kind of Jeb Bush.

I’m sure any Republican plan will exclude anybody, since charity to those in need is anathema. Since this is just election jibber-jabber, it doesn’t have to make sense or be consistent.
