So what happened at what is being called the Koch primary, where five of the Republican candidates went to an event hosted by the Koch brothers and tried their best to ingratiate themselves by groveling before them in the hope that they would be the beneficiaries of their largesse?
As Jon Stewart points out, the Republicans seem to have managed to pull off the feat of getting rid of the indignity of appealing to lots of actual ordinary people. How much easier it is to secretly suck up to a few oligarchs. Stewart gives the last word on this sorry spectacle to one of the candidates who did not go who makes an accurate point that I think is going to sting and will be resurrected in the debate.

So-Mr. Koch (Tweedledee or Tweedledum, who cares?) is trying to co-opt the arguments against his life’s work? Would he think of that as “fighting fire with fire”?
