As the Middle East continues to spiral into chaos as a result of the mess that the US has created in that region, it is remarkable that the very same people who were responsible for that disaster are being invited back by the media to provide analyses of what should be done now. And their advice tends to be uniformly the same: send more weapons to one of other faction in that conflict to fight on behalf of the US.
Jon Stewart in an epic rant on The Daily Show says that even the CIA, a rogue agency that has been funding various militant groups around the world for decades to fight wars by proxy, finds that it almost never works as anticipated and can point to only one short-term ‘success’, and that too ended up as a long-term disaster.

If you regard the media as the propaganda arm of the oligarchy, then that’s exactly what you’d expect. Their purpose is not to provide balanced, objective, or even sane analysis of the facts, it’s to promulgate a very specific set of ideological viewpoints. The only remarkable thing about it is that people keep falling for it.

Well, the Kurds only wanted their own state for a century, or so. And the US only turned a blind eye on Turkey slaughtering them from time to time…
They’re pretty much the only place a western-style democracy has a chance in the middle east. I wonder why nobody really cares what happened to them, except for maybe a biker gang from Denmark…

@ ^ Mariusz Butrykowski : I, for one, support the Kurds and think they have been doing admirably and deserve to be recognised as a nation of their own. They are indeed the largest stateless group on the globe and have suffered greatly and never had the publicity or diplomatic and political recognition that they could really use and have earnt -- see :

I hope we see an officially recognised nation of Kurdistan ASAP ideally taking in as many Kurds in as many nations as possible. Its been too long and been too many times betrayed for a people who have done everything basically right.
