Here he is dancing to the music of Dustbowl Revival’s Never Had To Go. I hope I am as active and full of fun as he is when I get to be 89 years old, assuming that I even get to that age.
I only know him through Mary Poppins (still one of my daughter’s favorite films), and I had no clue he was still alive and active (and a brief look at wikipedia shows he’s still *way* more active than could be expected of a man of his age).
I do feel a little humiliated that his footwork at 89 is still miles ahead of my own at 33…
Van Dyke is another example of how physical and mental activity lead to health and longevity. Being fit and active at 80+ requires being fit and active at 20, 30, 40, 50, etc.
If you want to have a long life, you have to have a lifelong commitment to health.
