Off to Pittsburgh

This afternoon I set off for the slightly over two hour drive to Pittsburgh for the Pennsylvania Atheist/Humanist Conference that begins with a reception at 7:00 pm tonight followed by entertainment and continues all day tomorrow and until around 5:00pm on Sunday.

Saturday has a heavy schedule of 14 speakers each scheduled for 20 minutes followed by 10 minutes of Q&A. I am the last speaker of the day. My talk is a kind of tutorial on the logic of science, not exactly the best thing to have at the end of what will likely be an exhausting day when people are anxious to relax at the bar or hungry for dinner. What they should have had for this clean up spot is a well-known speaker who can give a more entertaining talk but the scheduling gods have deemed otherwise. So be it.

Sunday has another nine speakers, followed by a two hour media workshop by Fred Edwords.

Almost the speakers are those whose names I am familiar with but have never met personally so it will be interesting to see what they are like in real life.

Because of my participation at the conference and because I am hopeless at this live-blogging thing, blogging will be erratic if at all for the next couple of days. I need to digest things over time before I wrote about it so my reflections on the conference are likely to come later.
