In May of this year, the US Supreme Court ruled 5-4 in Greece v. Galloway that governments can open meetings with prayers provided that there was no consistent pattern of discrimination in favor of or against one sect.
While secularists had hoped for a complete ban on such prayers, they decided that a fall back position was to provide secular invocations, and one was made at a July 15 meeting of the Greece town Board of Supervisors by Dan Courtenay, a resident and member of the Freedom From Religion Foundation.

It’s a victory of sorts that secularists can waste their time doing pointless invocations, too.
I gleefully await the day when corporations are able to sponsor them, and they turn into avertisements, and are deleted from the program.
