The political views of Bill Maher arose in my post about liberals and in a just released interview with The Atlantic he elaborates on his views about politics, comedy, and religion.

It is interesting how he seems to be now consistently referring to himself as an atheist. It was not always thus. He used to reject that label and insist on calling himself an agnostic, doing so in his 2008 documentary film Religulous that I reviewed here (scroll down).

I first noticed the shift back in 2012 and he continues in that vein in this interview, saying of himself “I combined apathy and atheist, and I came up with apatheist. I don’t know what happens when I die, and I don’t care.” He also treats the Pascal’s wager argument with the contempt it deserves.

Here he is doing what he does best, going after Republicans.
