Via reader Mark I heard about Timothy Blaise, a graduate student at McGill University, who has created an incredibly good cover of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody that not only sounds good musically but actually hits some of the main points of string theory.
Is the physics entirely correct? I don’t know the theory well enough to judge but he does describe its main claims to fame and some of the many problems that plague it. At the very least you can get some familiarity with the vocabulary.
The weirdness and popularity of Bohemian Rhapsody practically begs to have it co-opted for other lyrics. Here is another popular one by the Muppets because who doesn’t love the Muppets?

I really liked it, but couldn’t help thinking he has too much spare time. Of course, when I were a lad, we had to calculate Feynman diagrams by hand. With a pencil!

He is a master’s student so he is likely not seeking a faculty job, which usually requires a PhD. If he did, physicists are more interested in what your research output is than what you do for fun. The only concern might be that they might think he may be more interested in making these videos than doing research.
