btw, I have not seen an election decided this fast in a while. I would say it’s sus, but the constant prattling of “election was stolen” from the right makes any attempt from the left to say so get drowned in the wash.
but this election WAS very suspicious. I do not believe for a second that Trump is THAT popular in the US. and with Musk involved, with Peter Thiel involved, with Russia involved, and directly funding the candidates? nobody is going to call this suspicious? Am I really the first? sigh

nah. pretty sure they peaked at about 30% of the total population. Which means that either: 1, people did not vote on the left nearly as much as I expected they would, given I picked up a distinct “Obama positive” vibe coming from them, or 2, something is definitely off with the vote recording. 1 and 2 are not mutually exclusive, btw. Given how MUCH money is involved, and who is fronting a LOT of it (Musk, the modern supervillain), should anyone REALLY be surprised if something hinky was going on? really?
Most elections are called this quickly. 2016 was called before midnight IIRC. 2020 was the anomaly simply because of the shear quantity of mail-in votes and Covid.
I agree with Matt G, I think you are simply underestimating the number of racist, misogynistic, homophobic, and transphobic asshats in this country.
Time to find a bright side, so far all I have is this. The “I told you so” potential for the next few years is absolutely massive. Wish I had something better to offer, but that’s all for now.
Yeah, I just wrote a 2 a.m. essay called “we told you so.” We did. The Dems have been running down this track for 40+ years and we’ve been telling them that for as long, and damned if they listen. My last question was, “how’s that worked out for you?” Followed by, “You think they’ll listen now?” Spoiler: nah!
