What do you think this is, Spring?

I came home this afternoon to find swarms of dispersing spiderlings — the trees and shrubs were dotted with these tiny little guys on skeins of silk trying to spread out and find new homes.

It’s October, you dopes. It’s getting cold (although this week we’re having a surge of warmer weather), it’ll snow sometime in the near future, unless you’re looking for a safe place to hunker down and overwinter, this doesn’t seem like a smart strategy to me.

One last hurrah before Jack Frost comes knocking?
To boldly sail on strands of silk /
and to hell with Jack and his ilk.

Maybe the spiders know something we don’t, like…winter will be delayed until further notice.

    Well it is Spring!

At least it is here in my hemisphere. What’s wrong with you upside down folks of the northern one? ;-)

Almost the start of the cricket season too althoughthe T20 World Cup is already being played.

Oh noes! Send the poor sweeties here to California? Although they’re little bitty baby spiderlings so they might dry out, we’ve been getting the heat.

I’ve seen a few of them yesterday, but this is eastern Tennessee, we didn’t have a proper winter in a decade or so.
