A very adorable spider butt. Almost as cute as a bumblebee butt.

Oh and is that how Orb weabvers get their common name?
The one’s I’m familiar with aren’t as orb or palantir or earth shaped.. & their webs certainly aren’t round so?
Anyhow that’s one very cool pumpkin-and ash coloured arachnid.

That would be an interesting Jack-o-Lantern pattern to carve, and then explain to all the kids that come by. For an ambitious artist it could be mounted on a turntable to expose the legs and rest of the spider for added frights.

Out in the PNW it’s chonky spider season and I’m amused to report that at the local preschools “watch the spiders” is a very popular activity among the children, who are not (yet?) frightened of the large spiders.
Now if only the very large spider in my tomatoes would move so I could finish harvesting them before they all go bad.

I’m currently in Norseman, WA, and the golden orb spiders are FUCKING TERRIFYING.
