As mentioned in the previous horror story, the South Dakota House voted on the impeachment of their Attorney General, Jason Ravnsborg, this morning. It passed, barely.
By the slimmest of margins, the South Dakota House of Representatives has impeached Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg. Resolution needed 36 votes, and it received 36 votes. Ravnsborg will now have a trial in the Senate.
Yeah, it’s not over. All the vote meant is that he’ll get a senate trial. I wonder how that will go?
It will be interesting to see if he wants the evidence to be presented. They next need to go after those that covered this up. If I had been the driver I would not be seeing the outside of a jail cell for a few decades.
Naah, they will find that the dead guy stole some candy when he was 15, so he deserved it.
In fact, the Ravnsborg totally ran him over in a case of self- defence. The fact that no one else got killed could be quoted as an example of extraordinary restraint, after which they will name some city square or airport after Ravnsborg. Or have you forgotten which party he represents?

I’m sure they’ll claim the victim has an Antifa/BLM super-soldier with a pocket-full of George Soros paychecks about to pounce on Ravansborg and inject him with the Fauci Satan Serum and steal his guns!

Brit PM Boris Johnson will have to pay fines for having parties in violation of the lockdown laws he passed.
This may be the first time in his adult life that the law treats him the same as the commoners.
Admittedly, he has done far worse things, and often, but the fact that he is not completely above the law might shake up the tories.
I wouldn’t be surprised if there were a few legislators sweating out the vote in fear they’d be called upon to vote to impeach, but were off the hook when it hit 36. When I was a legislative assistant, I found it interesting how often votes came out with the exact minimum required.

Apparently the Democrats are unwilling to go to the same lengths to protect one of their own. Also, this news was released on a day when the headlines were busy with a subway shooting.

Not a testament to his moral compass, of course, but at least he knew his career at Lt Gov was over unlike Ravnsborg who could just resign but naah…let’s have an impeachment and trial. Apparently he and his GOP colleagues think there is still some question to his culpability and he can get off. (Reminders of TFGuy saying he could “stand in the middle of 5th avenue and shoot somebody and [not] loose voters”.)
I’;ve herad of IOKIYAR (It’s Okay If You Are Republiklan) before beut letting them get away with literal, at least manslaughter, seems to be taking that way too far.. Why is Ravnsborg not arrested and jailed?

Unfortunately no country has a monopoly on corrupt, narcissistic politicians. That said, ‘Murca’s far right party could give any other similar group anywhere in the world a run for its money when it comes to incompetence, corruption, and inhumanity.

Come to Texas where the men are men and the sheep are scared. Our state AG, Ken Paxton, has been under indictment for security fraud for SIX YEARS. He’s a pro! He even got re-elected while under indictment. But, whoa, Nelly, back that truck up. Paxton is also the target of an investigation by the FBI into bribery, abuse of power and obstruction in a case uncovered by whistleblowers, who Paxton subsequently fired. I guess the whistleblower protection laws are like a broken tail light, not a big deal. He’s such a nasty piece of work that he gives nasty pieces of work a bad name.
While it is good news that he is going to be impeached, the gaping chasm in the American justice system is that impeachment is even necessary when he should have been charged and tried in the first place, as anyone without political ties would have been.
