I am feeding wild birds (and nominally domesticated cats).
I am not “feeding the eagle”, that is an old norse euphemism for raiding/going to war.
(Unless you are an ornithologist feeding endangered birds- fun fact: the sea eagle is the biggest raptor but at a feeding site they will back off from ordinary eagles, who are mean motherfuckers)
I have a ton of books I can finally go through, the pandemic-related work at the local hospital left me without the energy to do it earlier.
I have a project PZ can solve during his so very ample free time! :-)
Science Nov.12th had an issue dedicated to ‘cooling in a warming world’. Apparently “photonic materials” can be used for passive, radiative cooling. If PZ can hack lichen and make them produce natural photonic materials, we can spread them over arid regions and alter the global heat budget (in a good way).
(This is the sort of things researchers do in their spare time, right? I have seen that in dozens of films, and films are always realistic).
My second suggestion involves Daleks.

The Koreans spent the week getting a tokamak going for 20 seconds at 100 million degrees to test fusion technology.
The Australians spent the weekend pondering the large amount of sea foam at the shores, and the risk of venomous sea serpents hiding within.
Nature really has it in for Australia.
Got some cash from relatives, so I’m going to my friendly local game stores to pick up a few items I’ve had my eye on. Then I’ll order some sushi from my favorite restaurant and chill out at home watching MST3K/RiffTrax.

Then there is what you find on numerous runestones all over Scandinavia, “So-and-so went and fed the ravens,” which can mean either of two things. Either he got killed and became raven food, or he killed other people and turned them into raven food.
Went for a 6am bicycle ride around my little mountain. Fortunately no sea snakes at 500 metres altitude. Next job is to go out and poison some weeds. Nasty spiky things need a little love.
I spend the day always wondering what Boxing Day is to the British. What the term means, ie collecting all the empty boxes for disposal, or boxing unwanted presents for return to vendor, or boxing prized gifts for protected storage, or all of the above which is why they left boxing unspecified.
